The Tannery Tops Office Hotspots In Leeds

Based on Kirkstall Road in Leeds, just 1 mile from the city centre, The Tannery is one of the city’s leading business centres, but that’s not quite how it started life…

A Little History

Originally built by Firth and Kendal of Idle in 1876 for the Leeds tanner William Paul, our lovely building began life as a just a small part of a large scale tannery, producing leather for shoes, harnesses, footballs and industrial use.

While much of the surroundings have changed considerably since then, what has remained the same is the role our building plays. While it was once the office block for fully functioning Victorian tannery processing over 20,000 hides each year, today it still remains an office building but now supports a number of very different Leeds based businesses.

A Spot Of Geography

As we mentioned, The Tannery is based on Kirkstall Road, also known as the A65, just one mile from Leeds City Centre. It is this location that allows The Tannery to offer plenty of free, on-site parking for our customers and their clients while still enjoying close proximity and easy access to the centre of Leeds.

Other key business hubs such as Sheffield, Manchester, York and Wakefield are also within easy reach thanks to the excellent road links including the M621, M1 and M62 which are all on the doorstep. Leeds Train Station is also well within walking distance and Leeds Bradford Airport is within a half an hour drive away; ideal for business travellers commuting across the country and even internationally.

A Few Friendly Faces

As with all our business centres, The Tannery benefits from a team of dedicated staff who are there to keep everything running smoothly. Kate Supple is part of the customer service team in the building and her job is to look after all our clients. Kate works alongside Margaret McGeachy who has been at The Tannery since it opened as a Bracken Business Centre in 2010 and she is well known throughout the building for keeping everyone and everything in order. Finally Sue Crowther is The Tannery’s newest recruit and she can be found looking after the reception area and supporting both Margaret and Kate in keeping everything ship shape and everybody happy.

Available Spaces

There are currently a couple of office suites available at The Tannery, ranging in size. These are some of the smaller office spaces on offer in the building and are ideal for small businesses looking to establish a Leeds office either as a start-up or as part of regional expansion.

As well as offices, The Tannery also boasts three meeting rooms which all feature either a ‘white board wall’ or a flip chart for collaborative working and presentations and of course, there’s always plenty of tea and coffee on offer too. Both the Ideas Room and the Green Room are perfect for up to 4 people looking for a quiet, professional space to work together. The Board Room provides the facilities for up to 10 people and is designed to impress with its long wooden table and stylish leather chairs.
